"100% Christmas music?!?! Yucky! No!" and "100% Christmas music with no commercials?!?! Yay!!". This is what I've been hearing in response to our Christmas format. Many of you helped by taking a vote, the vote was very close. So why did we go all Christmas? Because this is the most missional time of the year for Christian radio stations. This is the time of year that most people try other stations to find Christmas music and we’re hoping they’ll come to us and get a little more dosage of Jesus this Christmas instead of Santa Clause (as we don’t play anything focusing or mentioning him). We also will play some of our best regular songs once an hour mid-December to ease new listeners into what we normally sound like so that they might stay and be transformed. It’s a tried and true method recommended by all my radio mentors. We go back to regular non-Christmas music on December 28th.
Thank you so much for taking the time to contact us, I hope that you find at least some of it enjoyable, if not ALL. I get to go home to California for Christmas and watch my little brother get married, so Christmas is extra special for me this year. When I'm in the studio I sing "I'll be Home for Christmas" with gusto! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you from the desk of your Program Director, Danae Dolinsky-Songy.
